Mark was born and raised near Cincinnati, Ohio. His love of fantasy deepened when he and a group of friends began playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1975, beginning a lifelong practice of collaborative storytelling.
After university, he joined the United States Navy, studied Arabic, and served in North Africa and the Middle East before returning stateside as a senior intelligence analyst. During his time in Greece, he met and married his wife, Tania.
A later career in international logistics—and decades of games, maps, creatures, political histories, and unfinished tales—eventually became Trexlin: a fully realized setting built first to serve the Scions of Foci novels.
Awakening the Seablade and Trexlin form the inaugural title and inaugural story world of 13 Scions Publishing, where the novel remains the center of gravity.
